Bonnie S. Anderson was born May 16, 1943 to Robert B. Sour, a songwriter and music business executive, and his wife Geraldine (Scofield) Sour, an interior decorator. She attended Brown University, received her B.A. (summa cum laude) in 1964 and both an M.A. and Ph. D. from Columbia University. Upon graduation, she became a lecturer at Columbia University in New York City, then a Fordham University instructor. By 1972, she was a history professor at the City University of New York. In 2001, Professor Anderson became Broeklundian professor at Brooklyn College. Prof. Anderson has been on the editorial board and also the deputy editor of Women's History Review; visiting scholar the Kalamazoo Valley Community College, 1992; visiting scholar at the University of the Balearic Islands, Palma de Majorca; and an advisory board member of the Ernestine Rose Society. Professor Anderson has also served as a rape crisis counselor at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City. Professor Anderson's writings focus primarily on aspects of women's studies and women's history. In 1988, she co-wrote with Judith P. Zinsser A History of Their Own. In 2000, she published Joyous Greetings where she states that there was communication between the early feminists in the United States, England, France, and other countries by way of letters and published writings. Professor Bonnie S. Anderson retired from Brooklyn College in 2006.
