Colangelo, Alfonso C.

Alfonso C. Colangelo served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 97th Infantry Division. He enlisted on 3 October 1944 and completed his basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. On 6 April 1945, he was assigned to the 97th Infantry Division in Europe. After rotating to the U.S. in June 1945, C Company, 386th Infantry Regiment, 97th Infantry Division reassembled at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, for deployment to Japan. From September 1945 to 1 May 1946, Colangelo served in the occupation of Japan with his unit. He was then transferred to the Headquarters Detachment, 1st Cavalry Division. Colangelo rotated to the U.S. in September 1946 and was discharged from the U.S. Army on 15 November 1946.
