Born in Connecticut in 1919. Completed one year of college prior to enlisting in the Army on October 14, 1942 at Hartford, Connecticut. Joined the 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment, which would become part of the 10th Mountain Division, while it was engaged in mountain and winter warfare training at Camp Hale, Colorado. Assigned to Company L. Trained at Fort Ord, California for the invasion of Kiska Island, Alaska and participated in landings on Kiska in August 1943. During combat in Italy, he was wounded in action and was awarded a Bronze Star medal. Following the war, he attended business college and served as president of the Rocky Mountain Container Corporation in Denver, Colorado.
