Woodards (b.1948) served in the Air Force from 1966 through 1970 and for thirteen years in the Army Reserve.

Born in Miami (Florida), his family moved frequently, spending time in places such as California and New York. After serving in the Vietnam War, he married, entered the Army Reserve, and worked for a short time in the V.A. Hospital in Madison (Wisconsin). Woodards worked as a Dane County Sheriff's deputy for twenty-five years and served during the Persian Gulf War.
