Irvin J. Matthews (b. 1888), a construction engineer, was employed by the United States Bureau of Reclamation from which he retired in 1958. He was involved with construction of Boulder (Hoover) Dam, and in 1933 transferred to the Kendrick Project in Casper, Wyoming. In 1946 he was appointed district engineer in charge of Bureau of Reclamation projects on the North Platte River basin. He was president of the Wyoming Engineering Society in 1952.
