Whitworth University Music Department

Hide Profile

Whitworth's Music Department, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, offers excellent training for majors and non-majors alike in this vital part of the liberal arts. With its high-achieving choir, wind symphony, jazz ensemble and piano studies leading the way, the Music Department offers myriad opportunities for its singers and instrumentalists to perform and compete. Whitworth's musicians have excelled at Spokane's Musicfest Northwest Festival, at annual competitions of the Music Teachers National Association, at the National Association for Music Educators All-Northwest Conference, at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, at conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and the College Band Directors National Association, and on tours throughout the region, the nation, and the world. The college's acoustically rich recital hall hosts a regular schedule of performances. Visiting musicians also perform and conduct master classes throughout the school year.
