Margaret Hodges completed her Master's Degree in Library Science at the Carneigie Institute of Technology in 1958, the year her first book of fiction was published (One Little Drum). She is the recipient of the ALA Notable Book Award (1964, 1972, 1991), New York Times awards in several categories, Horn Books Honor Books, Caldecott Awards, and other citations and honors.

American children's author, born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1911. Hodges writes her own stories, but many of her books are adaptations that reflect her love of folklore and literature. She has also written biographies for young people on such historical figures as Queen Anne, Sir Thomas Malory, and Stephen Hopkins.
