Payne, Edwin W., 1837-
Sergeant in the 34th Illinois Infantry from Morrison, Ill. married Cornelia (Kim) Hudson on Feb. 14, 1864, was wounded at Jonesboro, Ga. in Sept. 1864 and after having his arm amputated was discharged from the army. His brother Lucias (Lu) served in the same regiment. His brother Ira T. served as a sergeant in the 93rd Illinois Infantry under his brother Captain William A. Payne. Ira was killed at the battle of Missionary Ridge, November 25, 1863.
