An accomplished author and editor of eighteen books, John Clark Pratt also served twenty years in the United States Air Force where he was a jet pilot instructor and a combat pilot during the Vietnam War. His experiences in Vietnam and Thailand led to the publication of his novel, "The Laotian Fragments" in 1974. Pratt was an instructor (1960-1962), Assistant Professor (1965-1968), Associate Professor, (1968-1969, 1970-1973), and Professor (1973-1974) at the Air Force Academy, and retired from the Air Force in 1974. John Pratt started a second teaching career at Colorado State University (CSU), serving as professor and chairman of the English Department from 1974-1980 and as professor from 1980 to 2000. He is currently on transitional retirement. He has received numerous awards including Fulbright Fellowships to Portugal and the Soviet Union, and was instrumental in creating the Vietnam War Literature Collection at the CSU Morgan Library. He continues to write and has just published another novel entitled "American Affairs."
