Edwin Augustus Parrott was the son of Thomas Parrott, a merchant from Dayton Ohio. He was appointed Lieutenant Colonel of the First Ohio Regiment in August 1861, and resigned in February 1864. He was elected member of the House of Representative in 1863. Parrott was also the president of the Dayton Malleable Iron Works company.
