Massachusetts. Special Commission Relative to the Selection of an Official Song for the Commonwealth.
A special commission, appointed by the governor pursuant to Resolves 1958, c 54 and reconstituted pursuant to Resolves 1961, c 22 and Resolves 1964, c 61, consisted of five members qualified in music who were to make recommendations to the General Court regarding an official state song. The commission, chaired by Arthur Fiedler, music director of the Boston Pops Orchestra, announced competitions and received entries for the state song. St 1966, c 644, designated as such "All hail to Massachusetts," by Arthur J. Marsh, mentioned in the resolves of 1961 and 1964. (See also St 1981, c 383, s 2).
