Russian German who immigrated to North Dakota (1910), served in various Wells County and North Dakota State offices, and as Republican in U.S. House of Representatives (1953-1958).
Otto Krueger was born Septermber 7, 1890 of German parents in southwest Russia. He graduated from high school at the head of his class, was approached to attend the military academy, but refused to swear allegiance to the Czar. He immigrated to the U.S. (1910) and became a citizen (1916). Krueger went back through school in Fessendon, N.D., then attended 2 years of business school in Fargo, N.D. and Great Falls, Montana, and served in WWI overseas with the Ninety-first Infantry Division (1918-1919).
Krueger held various community offices: Auditor of Wells County, N.D. (1920-1940), N.D. State Treasurer (1945), N.D. State Insurance Commissioner (1946-51), State Budget Director (1951-2). A Republican, he was state treasurer of the Republican Party (1948-1952), and served in the U.S. House of Representatives for three terms (January 3, 1953-January 3, 1959). Otto Krueger moved to Lodi, Calif. in 1959 and died there on June 6, 1963.
