Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington.
Committee grew out of the Washington, D.C. Tifereth Israel Congregation's Funeral Practices Study Group in 1976. Goals are to promote understanding of Jewish funeral practices and help the Washington Region's Jewish community to manage a funeral in a traditional (adhering to laws and customs) and cost-effective way. Committee now includes members from ca. 30 area synagogues, havurot, and B'nai B'rith lodges.
