Iwaski was born in 1876; a native of the Shiga Prefecture, he arrived in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in 1899 and entered the US in 1901; he worked as a section hand in Missoula, MT, a cannery worker in Anacortes, WA, and a hotel manager in Tacoma, WA; in 1904 he started to farm in WA and eventually moved to Hillsboro, OR, to settle down as a farmer in 1913; he and his family were interned in the Minidoka Relocation Center in Hunt, ID, during WWII.
