Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Albany, Or.)

Hide Profile

On July 1, 1962 a Lutheran mission congregation was established in Albany at 34th Avenue and Columbus. From then until January 1, 1967, the church was an extension of Immanuel Lutheran Church, LCMS. In fact, for those five years, the name “Immanuel-Good Shepherd” identified one congregation in two places. On January 7, 1967 it became an independent congregation with the Rev. David Schroeder as its first pastor. The congregation became self-supporting in 1971. On April 28, 1974, groundbreaking ceremonies were held for the construction of the church plant, which was completed on August 28, 1974. On January 1, 1978, Good Shepherd voted to become a member of the Pacific Regional Synod of the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches.
