Elmer Joseph Rogers, Jr. (b. Oct. 12, 1903, Taunton, Mass.-d. June 30, 2002, Arlington, Va.), U.S. Air Force officer, graduated from flying school in 1925 and received his regular commission in the Air Corps the following year. In 1943 he became deputy chief of staff, 3rd Air Force, and assumed command of the 465th Bomb Group in the Mediterranean Theater in 1944. He was wounded in action and later was named commanding officer, 97th Bomb Group; deputy assistant chief of staff for operations, 15th Air Force; assistant chief of staff for operations, Mediterranean Allied Strategic Air Force; chief of staff, then commander, 15th Air Force (1945). After the War he was assigned as director of plans and operations, Alaskan Command. During the 1950s, General Rogers served as the Air Force member, Joint Strategic Survey Committee in the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; operations officer and deputy chief of staff for plans, Far East Command in Japan; and chief of staff, Far East Command and United Nations Command. He retired in 1961.
