Biography
David Knuth Bjork was born on July 19, 1891 in Stockholm, Sweden; came to the U.S. in 1911; attended Illinois Wesleyan University (1915-16) and Pacific School of Religion (1916-18); AB (1919), AM (1920), and Ph.D (1923), UC Berkeley; instructor (1923-26), assistant professor (1926-32), associate professor (1932-44), chairman of the history department (1939-58), and professor (1944-58), UCLA; director, Western Federal Savings and Loan Association, Los Angeles, 1939-43; decorated knight of the Royal Order of Vasa by the King of Sweden; President of the Southern California chapter of the American Scandinavian Foundation; contributed to various historical publications; he died on March 5, 1962.
