The University Women's Association was founded in the mid-1950s. The organization's original name was the Faculty Wives Association. Its name was changed to the University Women's Association around 1970. The association promotes social and cultural relations among the wives of the faculty, female administrative staff, and the faculty women of the University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire. The association initially began as a social organization, but later undertook fundraising and scholarships.
