The Latourette family settled in Oregon City in the late 1840s.

The family members were well known for their professional and civic accomplishments. Some were judges, mayors and lawyers. Earl C. Latourette (1889-1956) was an Oregon supreme court justice and circuit judge. Lyman Daniel Corwall Latourette (1825-1886) was a pioneer school teacher and merchant. He was also one of the founders of the Oregon City Woolen Mills.
