Representative (1832-1836) and Senator (1852-1860, 1864-1868); son of Marion, S.C., founder Thomas Harllee; brother of John Harllee (1790-1870), David Stuart Harllee (1800-1854), William Wallace Harllee (1812-1897), Peter Harllee (1805-1860) and Thomas Harllee (d. 1853).

Dr. Robert Harllee was husband of Ann Gurly (1819-1835) and Amelia Melvina Cannon Howard (1810-1877); father of seven children: Robert Armstrong Harllee (d. 1862); Walter Cannon Harllee; Henry Thomas Harllee; Arthur Howard Harllee (d. 1911; Sarah Elizabeth (Sallie) Harllee (1840-1879); Louisa (Louise) Jane Harllee (1838-1934); and Harriet Susan Harllee.
