Williams, Joan Fisher, 1935-

A graduate of Radcliffe College (A.B. 1956) and Harvard University (M. Ed 1959), Joan (Jody) Fisher Williams was the daughter of Samuel G. and Ruth Vinograd Fisher who were both teachers in New York City. While at Radcliffe, she was co-editor of the weekly Radcliffe News and a government major. In 1960 she married Laurence R. Young, a doctoral student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and she worked at Massachusetts Mental Health Center until the birth of their son in 1962.
