Hitchcock family.
Ethan Allen Hitchcock, U.S. Ambassador to Russia, 1897-1898 was born in Mobile, Alabama on September 19, 1835. In 1874, he established the first plate glass factory in the United States. He was appointed Secretary of the Interior in 1898 and served until 1907. His Daughters, Margaret and Anne (who married RADM William S. Sims), accompanied him to Russia.
