Ficks, Robert S., 1945-

Ficks (b. 1945) was born in Burlington (Iowa) and grew up in Shorewood (Wisconsin). After a year at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he joined the Marines and served in the 1st Marine Brigade, 2nd battalion, 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam for two years. From 1966 to 1968, he served in Charleston (South Carolina), and ended his career with the rank of sergeant. Ficks then attended Milton College (Wisconsin) and majored in English and History. To finance his studies, he worked briefly as a car salesman and a private detective. After graduation, he worked in retail management for a number of years. He now lives in Mequon, Wisconsin.
