Communist activist Sonia Baltrun Kaross worked as an organizer for the United Textile Workers (UTW) in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California in the 1920s and 1930s. She led a sucessful textile workers' strike at the California Cotton Mill in Oakland, Calif., in the early 1930s, later representing the United Textile Workers on various central labor councils in San Francisco.
