Anton Caesar Cron was a member of the United States Military Academy (USMA) Class of 1903, but a non-graduate. However, he received an appointment to 2nd lieutenant in 1904 serving with the 10th United States (U.S.) Infantry and made the Army his career. From 1901 to 1904 Cron served in the 27th U.S. Infantry. He retired in 1939 as a full Colonel.
