The Office of Graduate Studies was begun in 1970, 2 years after the university was established as Florida Technological University. Its role was to coordinate all aspects of graduate education including the adoption of new graduate programs, recruitment of graduate applicants, ensuring maintenance of academic standards, and awarding graduate degrees. It underwent numerous name changes and headed by various individuals over the years as well as changes in reporting structure.
