Variant namesLouise-Renée de Kéroualle was made Duchess of Portsmouth and Aubigny by Charles II, King of England. The Duchess of Portsmouth was one of the king's mistresses. She was born in France and was sometimes considered his Catholic mistress, as opposed to his mistress Nell Gwynne, who considered herself Charles's "Protestant mistress." Charles Lennox was an offspring of her relationship with Charles II. He was created Duke of Richmond in 1675.
