Wemple, David Duane, 1843-1864.
David Duane Wemple (1843-1864) was born in New York. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. In 1864, white attacking Fort Fisher on Cape Fear, North Carolina, a 100-pound Parrott Rifle on Wemple's ship, the USS Juniata, burst, mortally wounding the Union sailor. Wemple died in North Carolina.
