Princeton University. Bicentennial of the American Revolution Committee.

Hide Profile

In 1971 Princeton president Robert F. Goheen formally organized a committee of faculty, staff, students, and alumni for the purpose of planning the University's observance of the Bicentennial of the American Revolution, then five years away. Committee members included chairman Irving Dilliard (English), James Banner (History), Peter Bunnell (Art Museum), and William Weathersby (Vice President for Public Affairs), among others. With input from other organizations, the committee came up with a number of proposals offering ways that the Bicentennial could be celebrated by different campus groups.
