H. Richard Nesson, 1932-1998, AB, 1954, Harvard College; MD, 1959, Boston Unviersity School of Medicine, became Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School in 1990, and President of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass. in 1982. He later served as chief executive officer of Partners HealthCare System, Inc., the merger of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in 1994. Nesson was appointed Assistant in Medicine at Harvard Medical School in 1962, and from 1963 to 1976 was a member of the medical staff at Beth Israel Hospital. In 1976 he became Director of the Division of General Medicine and Primary Care at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. Nesson participated in the development of the Harvard Community Health Plan and for many years served on its Board of Directors.
