Variant namesRobert E. Barry was born in Newport, RI. in 1931. He married and had two children. He received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1953. He studied graphic design and drawing in Germany and Switzerland. He served in the US Army 1954-1955. He was a partner in the graphic design firm Pava Prints, Inc. in Puerto Rico 1957- 1963. He was a professor of art for various institutions from 1966 onward. He was a writer and illustrator of children's books beginning in 1957. He received the New York Times award for Faint George in 1957. He received the Boys Club of America award for the book Faint George in 1957 and the book Next Please in 1961. Robert Everett Barry was born in Rhode Island, and attended the Rhode Island School of Design (B.F.A., 1953), Kunstgewerbeschule (Zurich, Switz.), and the Academy f Fine Art (Munich, Germany). He has taught art at Averett College (Va.), Texas Women's University, and Southeastern Massachusetts University (1968-). His awards include New York Times award (1957), Boys Club of America awards (1957, 1961.).
Katharina Watjen Barry wrote and illustrated "A is for Anything" which was listed on the 50 best books list by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (1962). She also wrote "A Bug to Hug" and has illustrated books by other authors.
