Young Charles attended Boston University and Gordon College in Boston, where he took his B.A. in 1946. He earned an M. Div., Th. D., and Ph. D from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1949, 1955 and 1957 respectively. In 1964 he married Florence Evelyn Phelps Meyer, who died in 1981. In 1985 he married Lavonne Randolph Gaiser. He has on son. The Rev. Dr. Mackenzie served as pastor to the Carversville Christian Church in Pennsylvania, the First Presbyterian Church in Avenel, New Jersey, the Broadway Presbyterian Church in New York City, and the First Presbyterian Church in San Mateo, California. He has taught at Princeton, Columbia, and Stanford universities, was president of Grove City College in Pennsylvania from 1971 to 1991, and is now teaching at the Reformed Seminary in Orlando, Florida. He resides in Oviedo, Florida. He is a Repbulican.
