The Combined Services Trust Committee appears to have been established following the disbandment of military units at the University of British Columbia in the 1960's. The history of military activity associated with the University dates back to 1914 with the founding of the Canadian Officers' Training Corps at McGill University College of B.C. by Harry Logan. Disbanded in 1920, the C.O.T.C. unit at UBC was reorganized by Logan in 1928. During World War II, units of the Navy and Air Force were added to campus military activity and together the units trained a total of 1,680 students for commission. After the war, enrollment in the service units declined but 50 to 100 students continued to train until 1968, when the units were disbanded.
