Judi Clark is one of the organizers of the annual conference, which started in 1991. The impulse behind the first meeting was Jim Warren, with the suppport of CPSR (Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility). Two of the eight meetings have been in San Francisco, and a third was sponsored by Stanford. Marc Rotenberg is organizing CFP 99.
