Katie Murray was a native of Rose Hill, Duplin county, North Carolina She was a graduate of Meredith College, Raleigh, North Carolina, and the Woman's Missionary Training School, Louisiville, Ky. She served as a Southern Baptist missionary in China and Taiwan from 1922 until her retirement in 1962.

Margaret Catherine Murray, a native of Kenansville, N.C., was a Southern Baptist missionary in Chengchow, China, where she experienced the turmoil of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Murrary and her co-workers became actively involved with refugee relief work and remained so until 1944. After fleeing China, she returned to the Orient in 1954 and completed her last years of missionary service on Taiwan in 1959.
