Ella Virginia Haith Weaver (1911-1991) was an educator and the wife of Robert C. Weaver, who became the first black cabinet appointee, serving as the Secretary for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (1966-1968).
A speech pathologist, Weaver spent most of her professional career at Brooklyn College, 1949-1967, directing the Speech Correction Clinic. She also acted as a consultant on a number of federal social development projects. Included among thes projects were the Women Training Centers, Job Corps and the Changing Dialects Research Projects at the Detroit public schools. In 1968 Dr. Weaver functioned as the chairperson for a project (Thes are my Jewels) aimed at serving children at Northside Center for Child Development in New York City and Washington D.C. (Department of Psychiatry of the Children's Hospital).
