City of Kannapolis, NC
Kannapolis, North Carolina, originated as a textile mill town in 1906 when J. W. Cannon purhcased farmland between Salisbury and Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1908 the first mill at Kannapolis opened. Kannapolis officially incorporated in 1984. The mills went through several owners including the Cannon family, the Pacific Holding Company, Fieldcrest Mills, and its final owner the Pillowtex corporation.
