The family moved to the Thompson Falls area in the 1950s, where Hamilton operated a ranch and worked construction to supplement the family income. He moved back to Missoula in 1958 and retired but he remained active in Montana labor affairs, serving the Montana AFL-CIO and Missoula County Central Trades and Labor Council in various capacities, including writing articles and conducting radio programs. Leverne Hamilton married Mollie Adolph Hamilton in June 1918. Mollie was born November 3, 1888 in Scartov, Russia. They had four children Bruce, Frances, Flora, and Keith. Mrs. Hamilton sustained the family while her husband was on the road campaigning. Mollie died on June 28, 1961 from injuries sustained in a pedestrian-automobile accident. Leverne died five years later on December 15, 1966 in Missoula.
