Linen draper in London, who through his business transactions with Virginia merchants, including Richard Lee and Thomas Corbin, became security for their duties on tobacco and subsequently had his goods and effects seized by the Crown under writs of extent against the bonds of security.

He was declared bankrupt and imprisoned in the King's Bench for more than four years.
