May, John W., d. 1864.
May was living in Confidence, Iowa when he joined a local company called the Chariton Rangers which was mustered into service in October 1862 as Company F of the 36th Iowa Infantry. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in 1863 and died of war wounds in 1864.
