Episcopal church founded 1759 in Cambridge, Mass., opening doors for services in 1761; original building designed by Peter Harrison; rarely used during American Revolution; ransacked after a funeral of a British prisoner of war in 1778 and not reopened until 1790; struggled financially until the ministry of Nicholas Hoppin (1839-1874) when regained sound financial footing; remains an active Episcopal church; building is registered National Historic Landmark.
