H. George Whipple was born ca. 1822 in Massachusetts. He married Mary Josselyn (b. ca. 1830) in 1859 and they had one child, Kittie, born in 1861. Whipple established a musical career in Louisville, KY, where he taught music privately, as well as in public schools. He also was employed as an organist/choirmaster by several local churches in Louisville.
