The Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks was organized in 1901 and incorporated in 1902. It is the first citizen-based organization for the Adirondacks and is the oldest professional, non-profit organization dedicated to public awareness and education regarding the protection and enhancement of the natural resources and human values of the New York State Forest Preserve and the Adirondack and Catskill Parks.
