Attorney, jurist, conservationist, and legislator, of Varnville (Hampton County, S.C.); 1932 graduate of Varnville High School; served as Judge, Fourteenth Judicial Circuit, from 1975 until retirement; Hampton County tax collector, 1946-1953; Board of Visitors, Clemson University; member and chairman of South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Commission, 1967-1973; represented Hampton County in S.C. General Assembly, 1961-1964. Organizing chairman of the Salkehatchie Community Actions Agency; recognized as 1968 Conservationist of the Year by the South Carolina Wildlife Federation.

Native of Louisiana; son of Clyde (Jack) Eltzroth, of Whitman County, Washington, and Angele Crosby Eltzroth Pinckney, of Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, Varnville and Hardeeville, South Carolina; stepson of Eustace Bellinger Pinckney; married, 1937, to Sara Carolina Platts Eltzroth (1917-2009), a union that produced three children. The Honorable C.A. Eltzroth, who passed the bar in 1952, is among the last S.C. lawyers to practice law and become a judge without ever finishing college or attending law school.
