Cholmley, Robert, 1726-1755, Batman of.
Capt. Robert Cholmley, British officer, was attached to the 48th Regiment of Thomas Dunbar, where he commanded a battalion in the detachment led by Thomas Gage. He was killed on July 9, 1755 during the Battle of the Wilderness (Monongahela). The diary was written by the batman to Capt. Cholmley, who came with him from England.
