The Gordon Keller School of Nursing was established in 1910 in Tampa, Florida. Gordon Keller was born October 6, 1865, in Bryan County, Georgia. He moved to Tampa in 1883 and died July 10, 1909. Keller was widely known for his philanthropic efforts, and because of this, the first municipally owned hospital and nursing school were named in his honor. The hospital is currently known as Tampa General Hospital. The Gordon Keller School of Nursing operated until 1972.
