Ramon Gonzalez was raised in Puerto Rico and came to Syracuse in 1970 after living in New York City for four years. He is an active member of the Syracuse Latino community and an active participant in the Latino radio station NOSOTROS. He is also the founder of the not-for-profit organization Latin American Community of Syracuse, which organizes annual dances during Christmas and Easter. Christmas dances are organized in a traditional Latin American fashion - Parandas. This is a family gathering where people eat, sing, and dance in celebration of Christmas.
Mr. Gonzalez also organizes voter registration drives and many other activities to promote unity and empowerment in the Latino community of Syracuse. He has worked at Centro for twenty-one years and currently holds the title of Quality Control Supervisor.
