Concord (Mass.). April 19th, 1950 Committee
Variant namesCommittee appointed to arrange public celebration in Concord, Mass., of 175th anniversary of Battle of Concord, Apr. 17-19, 1950. Officers: Raymond Emerson, Chairman; Harold E. Orendorff, Secretary; Stedman Buttrick, Treasurer; William B. Bartlett, Historian. Committee first met Apr. 13, 1949, when officers and subcommittee chairmen were chosen. Celebration included band concert, ball, sunrise salute, athletic events, ceremony at North Bridge, parade, reception and buffet lunch, literary exercises, and retreat ceremonies. Omar N. Bradley, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, was guest of honor.
(Cont.) Bradley and Senator Leverett Saltonstall were principal speakers at literary exercises. Representatives of town, state, and federal governments and of British Navy and Army were invited. Committee's report was included in annual municipal report for 1950.
