American Iron Works.
The American Iron Works was formed in Pittsburgh in 1850 by Benjamin Franklin Jones and was located on the south bank of the Monongahela River at Birmingham. Pittsburgh banker James Laughlin purchased a large portion of the business and became junior partner in 1854, and eventually the American Iron Works became the Jones & Laughlin Steel Company.
