Goldsmith, Peter H., 1865-1926

Peter H. Goldsmith was born in 1865 and lived in both London, England and New York throughout his life as an author and diplomat. In the early 20th century, Goldsmith worked for the Pan-American Association for International Conciliation, a US-based organization of intellectuals in foreign service. In conjunction with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Goldsmith traveled extensively throughout Latin America from 1915-1916, attending diplomatic functions and speaking to political and governmental leaders. He was also involved in assessing several railroad construction projects in South America, and was a noted fan of the Peruvian music of Daniel Alomía Robles. Goldsmith published several books, including, A Brief Bibliography of Books in English, Spanish and Portuguese, Relating to the Republics Commonly Called Latin America (1916), and Argentina: An Authorized Digest of Desarollo Económico de la República de Argentina en los Últimos Cincuenta Años (1924).
